Standard French Braid

I attempted two french braids on Friday. I discovered as I was playing with the kids on the floored couch cushions that working on a braid while either lying down or reclining, especially if my head is not touching the ground, that my arms don't get so tired and I last longer in my attempt.

The first one that I did, I didn't have a hair-tie nearby, as I started it on a whim. And Evangeline woke up before I was able to finish it past the top of my head. I ran and got her, found a hair-tie and did a quick messy bun. I wore it for the rest of the day then took a picture.

My second braid turned out a lot better, but I did it at 11:00 pm. I think I kept taking hair too far down the back of my head and so it was quite messy at the nape of my neck--the braid was no longer against my head but draped out, which I think is also partly because I was leaning back really far so my arms wouldn't get tired. I'll need to trouble-shoot that one...

I may try to braid my hair when it is wet next time because then it will stick together better as I learn to manage the different sections. Either that or I'll wait until it's greasy! :-) Another thing I think I want to achieve with a braid is taking smaller sections so there are more...sections. All-in-all, a pretty good attempt, if I do say so myself!

I try to style or braid my hair all the time and I'm just not very good at it! I need to practice more but it's so hard to find the time!

Nice job! I actually find it looks smoother when my hair is dry instead of wet. The more you practive, the less tired your arms will get for two reasons: you'll be using those muscles more, and you'll get faster at it, which therefore means your arms won't have to be up so long! I got my practice on road trips growing up :)
