I'm Blessed - December 26, 2011

Today sure didn't feel like a Monday and I almost forgot to do my "I'm Blessed" post. Whew! Aren't you glad I remembered?! :-)

I was thinking about the meaning of what it is to be blessed and that's about as far as I got. I usually think of blessings as those things that we thank God for, but I'm interested in studying deeper into what a blessing was in the Bible and how it relates to my being blessed today.

Two blessings come to mind as I sit and type:

~I'm feeling the blessing of family. We spent day 4 of 4 in a row with extended family. It is wonderful to be part of a family with such a strong heritage of faith, on both sides of the family.

~Something that Pr. John mentioned in his sermon on Sunday was that God isn't "efficient"--that he doesn't have to be because he is BIG! That is a blessing--serving a big God. I really appreciated this thought because often, I attempt to push efficiency into a virtue. It is a blessing to be reminded that efficiency isn't necessarily something to strive for...in life, in my faith, in my marriage, my child-rearing. God can and is working through non-efficient means in my life for his glory.
